The AI receptionist answers on a local phone number of its own. You can give out that number, or keep your existing one and forward calls to it — whichever suits you, and you can start forwarding whenever you are ready.
Choose a number
Turning on the receptionist takes three steps:
Voice plan
The receptionist comes with every plan; this step shows it as Included in your plan.
Choose your number
Search local numbers by area code and pick the one you want.
Go live
Tap Activate this number. From then on, the dashboard shows Answering calls on with your number.
Keep your existing number
You do not have to change the number your customers know. Until you forward it, your phone keeps ringing exactly as it does today. In the dashboard, Forward your existing number shows the codes; the common ones are:
| Your line | Forward all calls | Forward unanswered calls | Turn off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verizon | *72 + number | *71 + number | *73 |
| AT&T, T-Mobile and other GSM carriers | **21* number # | **61* number # | ##21# or ##61# |
| Landline or VoIP | Ask your provider | Ask your provider | Ask your provider |
Use the receptionist’s number, all 10 digits, in place of number.
Moving your number to Sonorch
If you would rather move your existing number to Sonorch than forward it, contact us and we will take you through porting it.
Test it
Call your number from a different phone. The receptionist should answer as your business. Then open the Calls tab in the dashboard and find the call, with a transcript of what was said.
