Comparison

The best AI receptionist for salons in 2026

Four you can actually use, with prices read off each vendor's own page — including the tiers that cannot book an appointment.

We make one of these. Sonorch is our product, so read this the way you would read any comparison written by a contestant. What we can offer instead of neutrality is accuracy: every price and limit below was read off the vendor's own pricing page in August 2026, and where a competitor is the better choice for you, it says so. If you find something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

Two of these were built for salons: Sonorch and BookingBee.ai. The other two are good products aimed elsewhere — Rosie at trades and professional services, Smith.ai at law firms and medical practices.

If you want the phone answered and nothing else to change, BookingBee is the narrower, salon-native choice. If you want the phone, the book and the front desk on one system, that is what Sonorch is for. If you mainly need messages taken rather than appointments made, Rosie is the cheapest way to do it.

One by one

What each one is actually for

Sonorch

From $99 / month · up to 5 staff

Salons that want the phone answered and the front desk run by the same system.

Where it is strong

  • Answers 24/7 and books into a live calendar with the right technician, inside your hours and policies.
  • Every plan has every feature and unlimited calls — plans differ only by team size.
  • Sonorch POS rings up services and retail, prompts the tip, and totals per-technician commission.
  • Every sale writes a customer record the built-in CRM uses to bring that client back.
  • A live line you can call before you buy, rather than a booked demo.

Where it falls short

  • Newer than the others here, with a shorter track record.
  • Books into the Sonorch calendar; if you are committed to a third-party salon platform, ask us before switching.

BookingBee.ai

From $99 / month · priced by staff count

Salons that want a phone answered and nothing else changed.

Where it is strong

  • Built for salons and spas specifically, and integrates with salon software rather than generic calendars.
  • Priced by staff rather than minutes, which is predictable if you take a lot of short calls.
  • No setup fee and no long-term contract; billed only for real conversations, not spam.
  • Multi-outlet from the $299 tier, multi-language at $499.

Where it falls short

  • The $99 Essentials tier is after-hours handling — full coverage costs more.
  • Staff-count pricing jumps hard: eight staff at $99, sixteen at $299, unlimited at $499.
  • Phone only. No point of sale, no register, no commission.

Rosie

From $49 / month · 250 minutes

Solo operators who mainly need messages taken, not bookings made.

Where it is strong

  • Cheapest entry point on this list, with a 7-day trial.
  • Automatic spam detection, and handles several calls at once.
  • Warm and live call transfers from the $149 tier.

Where it falls short

  • The $49 tier cannot book an appointment — it texts the caller a booking link. Direct calendar booking starts at $149.
  • Aimed at trades and professional services: its own site lists plumbing, HVAC, construction, law and real estate. Salons are not among them.
  • No salon-specific concepts — no technician assignment, no service durations, no commission.

Smith.ai

From $300 / month · 30 calls

Salons where a real person on the phone is worth several hundred dollars a month.

Where it is strong

  • Real human receptionists, not only AI — you choose AI-first or human-first.
  • Agents trained on your workflows, available around the clock.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee.

Where it falls short

  • Billed per call, not per minute. Thirty calls for $300, then $11.50 for each one after.
  • A salon taking 300 calls a month would pay well over $3,000 on the entry plan.
  • Not salon-specific: aimed at law firms, home services, medical and finance.

Questions

Choosing one

For most salons it comes down to Sonorch or BookingBee.ai, because they are the two built for salons rather than adapted to them. Both start at $99 a month priced by staff count. Sonorch’s $99 covers up to five staff with unlimited calls answered around the clock, and it also runs the register and the client marketing; BookingBee’s covers up to eight, though its entry tier is after-hours only. Rosie is cheaper at $49 but cannot book an appointment on that plan, and Smith.ai uses real humans at $300 a month for 30 calls.
