Every business starts on cash. Here is how to start taking cards, and how tips, splits and card pricing work.

Set up Zettle

  1. Ask us to switch it on

Zettle is enabled for your business by Sonorch. Contact us to get started.

  2. Sign in on each device

Go to Settings → Taking cards → Card payments (Zettle) and tap Log in to Zettle on every device that will take cards.

  3. Connect the reader

Use Reader settings to connect your card reader.

Set up a Payroc terminal

Enter the terminal’s serial number and save.

Tips

Tip percentages takes two to four values — 15%, 18% and 20% to begin with. Custom amount and No tip are always offered as well, and the customer chooses on screen.

Split payments and split checks

  • Split payment: take a gift card or cash first, and the card reader charges the rest.
  • Split check (restaurants): tap Split check on a check with at least two items.

Dual pricing and card surcharges

  • Dual pricing shows a cash price and a card price. Sonorch switches it on for you, and a Dual pricing card then appears in Settings.
  • Card surcharge adds a percentage to card payments, with the Fee (%) and Disclosure text you set. It is available with Zettle, and not shown in states that do not allow surcharges.

When the internet drops

The register keeps going. A banner says Offline, sales are saved on the device, and everything syncs once you are back online.

Card payments need a connection. Signing in with a PIN while offline only works on a device where that person has signed in online before.
